Students' sports activity - Gaelic Football
Gaelic Football is a distinctly Irish field invasion game played with a round football which can be caught, kicked and hand passed. The ball can be carried in the hand for a distance of three steps and can be kicked or “hand-passed”, a striking motion with the hand or fist. After every four steps, the ball must be either bounced or “solo-ed”, an action of dropping the ball onto the foot and kicking it back into the hand.
Cumann (club or community in Irish) Warszawa is a club made up of 70 men and women, mainly from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at SGGW. We have players from all around the world, and continually welcome new players. We train twice a week, on a Wednesday and once on the weekend both on the SGGW campus. The fundamentals of the sport can be picked up very easily and we are always happy to assist newcomers and heading into the summer we plan to organise introduction days for members of the SGGW community to learn the basics of the sport. We are a student led club, we welcome all members of the SGGW community that is interested to contact us at cumannwarszawa@gmail.com or on instagram: warsaw_gaa
